OEM Sportswear Manufacturing: Complete Guide
OEM is specification-led manufacturing. The brand owns the product definition; the factory executes it at volume.

OEM sportswear manufacturing means a factory produces garments to another company’s specification. The buyer may bring a complete tech pack, or develop the product with the factory through samples. Either way, the commercial relationship is manufacturing, not selling leftover stock.
What buyers usually provide
- Sketches or reference garments
- Size chart and grading notes
- Artwork for prints and labels
- Target price and forecast quantity
- Packing and label rules if the goods will be sold at retail
What the factory should return
A clear OEM quote names fabric (as confirmed, not invented lab certificates), decoration method, MOQ, indicative or firm FOB price, sample path and an estimated production window after approval. If any of those are missing, the quote is not finished.
Development vs bulk
First-time OEM styles need proto samples. Changing a collar after 2,000 pieces are cut is a new cost. Lock measurements and artwork, then issue bulk. Brands that skip this step to “save time” usually spend it later on repairs and arguments.
Sialkot as a production base
Sialkot is a known sports manufacturing city. That geography does not automatically make every workshop an OEM partner. Judge the specific manufacturer on sampling discipline, packing and communication. FAQ
OEM manufacturing produces garments to the buyer’s specification, often including product development and bulk production for a brand or wholesaler rather than selling a factory’s own retail brand.
